Japan Nuclear
Japanese farmer Masami Yoshikawa's cows graze in Namie, an abandonned town in Futaba district, Fukushima, Japan. Namie was severely affected by the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, on March 11, 2011. The town was evacuated en masse on the morning of March 12 as it is located well within the 20 kilometer exclusion radius around the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Angered by what he considers the Japanese government’s attempts to sweep away the inconvenient truths of the Fukushima nuclear disaster, Masami Yoshikawa has moved back to his ranch in the radioactive no-man’s land surrounding the devastated plant. He has no neighbors, but plenty of company: hundreds of abandoned cows he has vowed to protect from the government’s kill order.
